Never been on a fishing charter?
Roughly a third of the people we take out have never fished offshore before, and honestly some have never held a rod. We built the whole operation around that. You show up, we hand you a rigged rod at the strike, and we coach you through the fight. That is the entire skill required from you.
What a first charter actually looks like
You meet us at Robbie's Marina in Islamorada around 15 minutes before your trip. We load the boat, run out to the reef in about 20 minutes, and start fishing. Most first-timers are hooked up within the first half hour, and the mate is right there showing you how to reel it in.
We fish, you fish. Nobody expects you to be an expert. If we hook a fish and hand you the rod, we walk you through every step. When the fight is over we take the photo, ice the fish, and get back to it.
At the end of the trip we clean everything at the dock and package your fillets. Robbie's has a restaurant that will cook your catch fresh the same afternoon.
What is already included
- All rods, reels, and terminal tackle
- Live bait, dead bait, and lures
- Ice and bottled water
- Florida saltwater fishing licenses for everyone on board
- Fish cleaning and vacuum packaging at the dock
- USCG-licensed captain and experienced mate
Just bring
Sunscreen (rub-on, not spray), polarized sunglasses, a hat, closed-toe or non-slip shoes, and snacks. Cash for the mate. That is it.
Which charter is best for a first trip?
Half Day (4 hours): most first-timers
$1,200 plus $200 fuel, up to 6 anglers. Stays in protected reef and patch waters. Smooth ride, tons of variety (snapper, grouper, mackerel, jacks), and you are back at the dock by lunch. If it is your first time on a boat or you have a mixed group, this is the trip.
Split Charter (6 hours): solo or couples
$475 per person plus $50 seat fuel. Share the boat with one or two other small parties. Half the cost of a private, full offshore experience. Perfect if you are a solo angler or a couple who wants deep water without paying for the whole boat.
