The Florida Keys are not only famous for their breathtaking beauty and crystal-clear waters, but also for having some of the best offshore fishing in the world.
During the summer months from May to September, one of the main staples of offshore fishing in the Keys is the spectacular and colorful mahi-mahi.
These gamefish are highly sought after by anglers for their remarkable jumping ability, bright colors, and delicious taste.
I recently had the good fortune to catch up with Captain Kit Carson, skipper of DirtyBoat 2.0, a 42’ sportfishing yacht operating out of Robbie’s Marina in Islamorada.
Kit regularly takes his clients out on all-day offshore charters hunting for mahi-mahi with light tackle, and I managed to get some great pointers from him on how to catch these amazing fish.
