Graduation Gift Offshore Grind for Dan and Jacob

Dan brought his son Jacob down from Mount Dora for a graduation-present fishing trip before Jacob heads to Tallahassee. We hunted from the patches to the 409 Hump, the tuna grounds, and the swordfish ledge before finishing with a dozen mahi.

Isaac Webb's Dream Trip Offshore

Isaac Webb, 13, came down from Missouri with his dad Matt for a deep sea fishing trip set up through the Dream Factory of Greater Kansas City. Rough seas, a tough bite, and a kid who fished through all of it. Five mahi on the dock at the end of it.

Two-Day Birthday Bash — Schoolie Mahi & a Bruiser Amberjack Offshore

Harvey and his son Jason booked two days offshore to celebrate Jason's 40th and Harvey's birthday around the corner. Day one was a war — nasty seas, a dozen schoolie mahi east of the Hump. Day two the ocean laid down but the fish played hard to get. Four keepers and a big amberjack closed it out.

Islamorada fishing conditions for Sunday June 7: East winds 10-15 knots, seas 1-2 ft Hawk Channel, 2-3 ft Straits. The weekend's best day, with steady east wind and a clean sea state. Gulf Stream pinned 10 NM SE of Alligator. Yellowtail on the flood, mahi at the color change.

The transition day, with a morning NE component for shelter before the afternoon goes pure east. Mahi on the reef edge, yellowtail on the flood tide. Sunday is the best day of the week.
